October 2020 Theme

Hi all,
We are finishing off our first round of reading and scoring and commenting on submissions. There is a whole range of submissions, some visual, some poetic, some narrative, prose, diary entries, audio – very eclectic!
Some submissions adhere very closely to our theme and prompt and others are only loosely related. We are speaking amongst ourselves to decide how much we would like to be strict with the theme.
Silvia asked our group on the DTJ call on Monday to let her know about the structure we would like to take for the issue, in terms of categories. We would like to separate the issue broadly into two sections — “Present day beings” and “Future beings” — and do further weaving of narrative and coherence within those.
This next week we will be contacting authors and in some cases requesting edits and additional context setting to the pieces that don’t relate closely enough to the theme. We’re still trying to decide how far to go on the requested edits.
We will be back in touch again soon with some more updated.
Thank you again for your support.
— Phoebe
